Richie James is the backup wide receiver for the Kansas City Chiefs. He started his NFL career with the San Francisco 49ers in 2018. He played three seasons for the 49ers before moving on to the New York Giants in 2022.

While James is not a star, he is a tremendous contributor when his number gets called. During his time with the Giants in 2022, James 569 receiving yards, 57 receptions, 29 first downs, 176 yards after catch (YAC), and 4 receiving touchdowns. His play on the field contributed to the Giants' first playoff berth since 2016. He also indirectly helped get Giants’ quarterback Daniel Jones get paid.

After the 2022 season, James signed with the Kansas City Chiefs for a one-year $1,232,500 million deal but only played nine games in 2023 in Chiefs’ uniform.

In his early days, James attended Riverdale High School in Sarasota, Florida, United States and along with football, he also ran track where he won multiple state titles. He originally committed to play college football for the Georgia Southern Eagles but pulled back because of a coaching change.

James finally committed to play football for the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders in January 2014 but signed with the program in February 2014. However, James redshirted his true freshman year and decided to start in 2015. In 13 games that he played in 2015, James had 1347 receiving yards, 8 touchdowns, and 107 receptions. He also had 158 rushing yards, 1 rushing touchdown, and 13 rush attempts. His play got him named to the 2015 All-Conference USA First Team and the 2015 C-USA All-Freshman Team.
