Last season the Washington Redskins ended their season with a playoff loss and their Pro Bowl Rookie of the Year, quarterback Robert Griffin III, tearing his ACL.
Much was made in the off-season on whether he should have been in the game at the point when he tore his ACL, due to his knee injury earlier in the game. Head coach, Mike Shannahan, had asked RG3 if he was okay and the QB said he wanted to stay in, but many thought Shannahan should have kept him out of the game and listened to doctor James Andrews.
Now fast forward to today, Andrews has been quoted as saying, “RG3 recovery speed is something not human.” And it appears Shannahan, who sat RG3 the whole pre-season, will let him start week one on Monday against the Philadelphia Eagles (something all his fantasy football owners are happy about).

They are saying he is one hundred percent, but it leaves us wondering if RG3 re-injures himself, will Shannahan get blamed for rushing him back to play? The number one thing, even for me being a Giants fan, is seeing this guy playing again because he’s the most electrifying player on the field.
Critics have been rough on Shannahan for a decision most coaches would have made in the playoffs and to start RG3 week one, but they fail to realise that he’s paid to try and win football games.
While I agree nothing should be done to ruin the promise of this 23-year-old phenom, it must also be understood that RG3 is an adult and should be held responsible to know his body and whether or not he should play.
The hope for every football fan is that RG3 stays healthy and we can truly see his talent on the field all season. Regardless of what happens Monday, though Shannahan should hold no responsibility if RG3 does get hurt, at the end of the day if a player says he is healthy – it’s on him.
