Born in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States, Rome Odunze attended Bishop Gorman High School and was a four-star recruit coming out of high school. For his high school football career, Odunze had 2,699 receiving yards, 121 receptions, and 31 touchdowns. In his senior year in high school, Odunze also went on to win the Gatorade Football Player of the Year for Nevada. He played his college football for the Washington Huskies and was the wide receiver for the team. He started his college football career in 2020 and spent four seasons with the Huskies before declaring for the 2024 NFL draft. In his true freshman season with the Huskies in 2020, Odunze played in all four games and had 6 receptions, 72 receiving yards, and 3 rush attempts. In 2021, Odunze played in 9 games and had 41 receptions, 415 receiving yards, 4 receiving touchdowns, and 13 rushing yards. While his first two seasons were good, his final two years were nothing short of spectacular. Odunze, in 2022, had 1145 receiving yards, 75 receptions, 7 receiving touchdowns, and one rushing touchdown. In his final season with the Huskies, Odunze would go on to have his best season as he recorded an astounding 1640 receiving yards, 92 receptions, 13 receiving touchdowns, 37 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown. Odunze’s awards list is spectacular. He was spectacular in the final two seasons that he played and here are some of the individual awards he won; 2023 CSC Academic All-America Team, Member of the Year, 2023 CSC Academic All-America First Team, 2023 All-America First Team (AP, FWAA, PFF, CBS Sports, The Athletic), 2023 All-America Second Team (Walter Camp), 2x All-Pac-12 First Team in 2022 and 2023, and 2023 Biletnikoff Award Finalist.

Rome Odunze’s 40-time

Rome Odunze ran a strong 40-yard dash time of 4.45 seconds at the NFL Scouting Combine as per NFL.com. Odunze also posted an official vertical leap of 39 inches and the 20-yard shuttle was completed in 4.03 seconds. He also went on to do something unusual. After the stadium was empty, Odunze went back on the field to repeatedly re-running his three-cone drill. He went on to run for a total of five times and was trying to break the 6.6 seconds record. It is clear that he wants to be great and it also caught the attention of the other scouts that were present there. We saw a lot of top prospects skipping the NFL Combine this season, however, Odunze went on to complete the Combine and still went on to work on his skills.
