Roquan Smith is an American football linebacker playing for the Baltimore Ravens of the NFL as of 2025. He began his NFL career with the Chicago Bears after being selected as the eighth overall pick in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Before joining the Ravens as a trade deadline acquisition in 2022, he spent his first four years with the Bears. At the start of 2023, he was signed to a 5-year $100 million contract by the Ravens. His NFL career consists of a lengthy list of achievements and accolades. The two-time Butkus Award honoree linebacker has been nominated to the All-Pro First Team twice, All-Pro Second Team two times, and two times to the Pro Bowl.

Revisiting the early years of Smith’s life, he was born in Marshallville, Georgia. His football career began at Macon County High School in Montezuma, Georgia. He was listed as a four-star prospect and was the No.5 player in the state of Georgia according to ESPN.

Roquan Smith attended the University of Gеorgia from 2015 to 2017, where he played in 40 games for the Bulldogs. His true freshman season saw him appear in 12 games in 2015 where he recorded 20 total tackles along with 2 tackles for loss as per Sports Reference. He earned Unanimous All-American accolades along with First-team All-SEC honors. Additionally, for his performance in the SEC Championship game, he was named MVP of the game. He also secured SEC Defensive Player of the Year in the same year. Smith was also the recipient of the Butkus Award in 2017 which is given to the nation's top linebacker.
