The Dallas Cowboys were anointed the world's most valuable franchise by Forbes with a valuation of $10.1 billion but that hasn't stopped them from being affected by the vagaries of the National Football League. The Cowboys are one of three teams including the New Orleans Saints and Las Vegas Raiders without a full-time head coach after the Jacksonville Jaguars became the latest team to fill their head coaching vacancy. Per multiple reports, Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Liam Coen will take over as head coach of the franchise.
Where does that leave the Cowboys, you ask? Since Dallas's GM Jerry Jones reached out to Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders on the day they parted ways with Mike McCarthy, there has been little movement on that front.
“To hear from Jerry Jones is truly delightful, and it’s intriguing. I love Jerry and believe in Jerry," Sanders told ESPN. "After you hang up, and process it, and think about it, it’s intriguing. But I love Boulder and everything there is about our team, the coaches, our student body and the community.”
With the Deion Sanders chase going nowhere, it appears the Cowboys are looking at other options. On Thursday, January 23, NFL insider Jane Slater revealed one more name the Cowboys weren't earlier linked with - Pete Carroll.

The man who won a Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks has made himself available in this coaching cycle after leaving Seattle two years earlier. Carroll reportedly expressed an interest in the Chicago Bears job and has since been strongly linked with the job over at Tom Brady's Las Vegas Raiders after they whiffed on Ben Johnson.
Carroll racked up 137 regular-season wins with the Seahawks in addition to 27 wins with the Patriots and six wins with the Jets. Carroll's postseason record with the Seahawks stood at 10-8.
Latest on the Dallas Cowboys' search for a new head coach
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram also reported that Jones has reached out to Carroll. The report described Jones's conversation with Carroll “as informal, although the interest is legitimate enough to be reported.” As things stand, Dallas has not yet interviewed Carroll for the role.
They have interviewed four candidates in all - Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, Seahawks assistant head coach Leslie Frazer, former Jets head coach Robert Saleh, and current OC Brian Schottenheimer, who's the betting favorite to land the job.
