Bill Belichick signed on as the head coach of the University of North Carolina program barely a month ago but the NFL has clearly not forgotten about a man who still has an opportunity to be the winningest head coach in league history.
Belichick was set to be the biggest name on the 2025 coaching carousel after he failed to land a job this year. He was strongly linked with the potential job opening with the Jacksonville Jaguars but ultimately ended up signing a five-year, $50 million contract with UNC. That said, he does have a stipulation giving him an out in case an NFL job comes calling. Colin Cowherd believes Belichick could use that stipulation and work his way into a job with an NFC heavyweight.
“Here’s my hottest take. If Philadelphia loses in the first round or the second round, Bill Belichick can get out of his contract this July.
"Belichick already got his kid at Carolina to be the DC. Why did Carolina allow Belichick to have that? Because Belichick knows there are two jobs that are fascinating – Philly and Buffalo," he said on The Herd.

Ahead of Week 17, Sirianni has a 48-23 win-loss record with the Eagles which includes two wins in the playoffs. He is 2-3 in the postseason, though he will have the opportunity to improve that record next month.
Where Nick Sirianni's Eagles stand in the NFL Playoff Picture
The Eagles blew an opportunity to put some pressure on the Detroit Lions' No. 1 seed spot after a 36-33 loss to the Washington Commanders.
The biggest talking point from that game was Jalen Hurts's concussion which forced him to exit the game in the first quarter. Kenny Pickett took his place under center but failed to keep pace with Hurts as Jayden Daniels worked his magic late in the fourth quarter with a go-ahead touchdown.
As such, the Eagles are still the No. 2 seed in the NFC as they prep to go up against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. They will once again be without Hurts, who is still in concussion protocol. Pickett is likely to continue under center in his absence.
One storyline to watch with the Eagles over the next two weeks is Saquon Barkley's mission to break the NFL's single-season rushing yards total of 2,105 yards. While NFL legend Eric Dickerson doesn't want Barkley to break his record, the Eagles RB will have to go superhuman and rack up 267 yards over the next two games against the Cowboys and the Giants.
