Jeff Bezos is garnering a lot of attention in league circles, but his wish to buy an NFL team might lead him to a surprise franchise.
According to Albert Breer, the lead NFL insider from Sports Illustrated, Bezos seems interested in buying the Seattle Seahawks "as much, if not more interested" than he wants to buy the Washington Commanders. The other league owners would love to have him on board as he's one of the richest people in the world, and his desire to own an NFL franchise is well known.
The Seattle Seahawks are owned by the Paul G. Allen Trust, with his sister, Jody, acting as the chairman. Allen, the Microsoft co-founder alongside childhood friend Bill Gates, owned the franchise from 1997 to 2018, when he died.
Why can't Jeff Bezos buy the Washington Commanders?
The Amazon owner wants to own an NFL team, one of the league's most storied franchises is up for sale and all owners want to have him on board. Seems like the perfect opportunity, right?

Well, not quite.
Dan Snyder, the Commanders' owner, reportedly despises Bezos. The Amazon owner also owns the Washington Post, which has published stories regarding malpractice and the toxic workplace involving the Washington team – issues that ultimately led Snyder to put the team up for sale.
Snyder will leave the Commanders, but he does not want to sell to Bezos, no matter the price he could get. Even if the owners want to get rid of Snyder, they can't force him to sell the team to a specific pretender.
As one of the richest people in the world and with such a successful track record in business, it's easy to see why NFL owners would love to see Bezos join their club, especially as he has been outspoken about his love for the league and his desire to own a team. It just might not be with the team they all envisioned.
There are no current reports of a possible Seattle Seahawks sale. But if it does turn out to become a thing, the perfect candidate might be ready.
