NFL Trade Rumors: Bears urged to get creative with trading Justin Fields

Justin Fields had a breakout year in the minds of many, but the team is drafting first in the NFL Draft. As such, it leaves the team in a quandary. Should they go in a new direction at quarterback like most first overall picks tend to do, or should they roll the dice with Fields once again?

Speaking on "Get Up," NFL analyst Bart Scott pushed the team to trade the quarterback for a massive haul, draft a new quarterback, and draft a sea of rookie players this April. Here's how he put it:

"It is not because Justin Fields isn't a worthy talent. The problem is you want to see them with a good offensive line. You want to see him with a great skill position players. That takes time. Jalen Hurts went into a situation where that was already in place."

Will Justin Fields play for the Bears in 2023?

He continued, explaining why the quarterback would fetch a high price:

"So now, how do you get that for a young quarterback? You get it by getting draft capital. ... Because he's under contract for two or three more years, would get you as far as draft compensation to be able to do that."

Despite getting 15 games of action in 2022, he won just one more game in his sophomore season.

However, his statistics were much improved compared to the previous season. In 2022, he threw for 17 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He also eclipsed a 60 percent completion rate. That said, for as well as he did in the air, he truly exploded on the ground.

In his rookie season, he rushed for 420 yards and two touchdowns. In his sophomore season, he rushed for 1,143 yards and eight touchdowns, putting him in a tier with Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.
