When Russell Wilson made his way to the NFL, not many people gave him a second glance. Selected in the third round by the Seattle Seahawks, it was not exactly a draft headliner. But, looking back at the career that he has had up to now, Wilson’s NFL journey has been nothing less than spectacular.

When the Seattle Seahawks selected Wilson as the 75th overall draft pick and had already acquired Matt Flynn in free agency, their decision was not well received. Initially, it was thought that Wilson would be playing the role of a backup quarterback, but in a surprise turn of events, he became the starter from the first game of his rookie year.

In his eleven total seasons in the league, Wilson’s teams have managed to reach the postseason on eight occasions. In fact, Wilson received so much success at the start of his career, that by his second year, the Seahawks were already hoisting the Lombardi trophy high in the air. Furthermore, Wilson led the team to the Championship game again the very next year only to lose on the last drive of the game via an interception on the 1-yard line. Russell’s Super Bowl victory came when he was just a young 26-year-old back in February 2014.

Unfortunately, though, Wilson has not been up to the mark for the past few years and after just two seasons with the Broncos, the team is now getting ready to release him in the upcoming days.

Russell Wilson Age

As of March 2024, Wilson is 35 years old. Russell Wilson was born on November 29, 1988, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Wilson who is now in his mid-thirties has accomplished a lot in his football career till now, and for some, he may have even exceeded expectations. As he now gets ready to enter the twilight years of his career, Wilson probably still has some achievements he would like to accomplish before he hangs up his boots forever.

Some of the accolades that he has received till now include nine trips to the Pro Bowl, the 2015 NFL passer leader, the 2017 NFL passing touchdowns leader, and the 2022 Bart Starr award. However, the Super Bowl MVP and the NFL MVP awards are a couple of honors that are still missing from his incredible resume.
