Why does Sam Hartman wear 10?

Sam Hartman wears the number 10 to remember his late older half-brother Demitri Allison. Demitri Allison was adopted by Sam's father. He came to the family when he was just age 15 and spent his time with them during his four years of high school career.

Sam Hartman and Demitri Allison shared a very close bond. Hartman considered the older Allison as an idol. After his high school years, Demitri Allison started playing football at Elon University. Unfortunately, all this would change when Demeti Allison committed suicide at 21 years old on November 11, 2015. Sam Hartman was greatly shaken by the loss of the brother whom he had idolized. It taught him the importance of family and having people who love and care about him around him. ‘

Sam Hartman had also stated that despite Demetri Allison not sharing the same last name or bloodline as him, he was very much his brother and it hurts him not to have the person he considered a brother around.

Sam Hartman started wearing 10 in remembrance and as a tribute to Demetri Allison. Furthermore, he also used the initials “D.A.” on his wristband. Moreover, he also admitted that his teammates at Notre Dame reminded him of his late brother and inspired him to continue playing football.
