Sam LaPorta is an American football tight end for the Detroit Lions as of the 2024 NFL season. The Lions drafted him with the 34th overall pick in the second round of the Detroit Lions. Even in his very first NFL season in 2023, LaPorta has had an enormous impact on the success of Lions teams and more specifically their offense. He concluded his rookie season with 86 receptions for 889 receiving yards and scored ten touchdowns. In 2023, he was named Second-team All-Pro, selected to the Pro Bowl, and included in the PFWA All-Rookie Team.
The rookie tight end was born on January 12, 2001, in Highland, Illinois, and went to Highland High School where he played as a wide receiver and a defensive back.
