Sam LaPorta and the Detroit Lions are coming off a costly Week 3 duel against the Arizona Cardinals, picking up a sizable number of injuries during the 20-13 win.
For starters, LaPorta picked up an injury on a Lions touchdown last Sunday. He returned to the court in a limited capacity, but the alarms are on now given the latest update on LaPorta's injury.
NFL insider Adam Schefter reports that LaPorta did not practice today due to his ankle injury. This is the first injury report of the week for the Lions, but the initial report doesn't seem to be optimistic regarding LaPorta and several other players.

Sam LaPorta injury update: What happened to Lions TE?
Sam LaPorta suffered a sprained ankle against the Cardinals. When the team scored a hook-and-lateral touchdown, he added his name to a long list of injuries that occurred during that game.
It's worth noting that LaPorta went through testing with trainers, meaning he could still be ready in time to face the undefeated Seattle Seahawks on Monday night. Before the start of today's practice session, tight ends coach Steve Haiden said that LaPorta's status will depend on what team doctors say.
"Really, that's up to the doctors," Heiden said, via Detroit Free Press. "If he's good to go, (it's) 'you're out there. Let's go'."
In three games this season, Sam Laporta has been targeted 10 times, catching eight passes for 94 yards. He's yet to score his first touchdown of the season, as the Lions seem to be trying to figure everything out as the weeks come by.
They still have a couple of days to see if LaPorta will be ready to go or if he'll be back for the next game.
Detroit Lions have a long injury report
Besides Sam LaPorta, the Detroit Lions have eight more players on the injury report. Ifeatu Melifonwu, Frank Ragnow and Dan Skipper didn't practice on Thursday while Brian Branch, Alim McNeill, Levi Onwuzurike and Ennis Rakestraw Jr. had limited participation.
Alex Anzalone, one of their best defenders, was a full participant after suffering a concussion.
The Lions will need as many weapons as they can get on the field this Monday as the Seahawks are playing at a high level, winning three games and losing none.
Dan Campbell and company tried hard to beat the LA Rams in the season opener before losing to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and then bouncing back against the Arizona Cardinals.
