Sean McDermott is a professional American football coach who has guided many teams during his coaching career and currently serves as the head coach for the Buffalo Bills in the National Football League. His professional career in the NFL as a coach began when he was hired by the Philadelphia Eagles as their scouting administrative coordinator in 1999. After working in the same position for a few years, Sean McDermott was promoted to Andy Reid's coaching staff in 2003. In 2004, McDermott and the Eagles were able to reach the Super Bowl XXXIX but ultimately lost to the New England Patriots. He was promoted to the position of linebackers coach in 2009. Sean McDermott served many different positions during his run with the Eagles but was never promoted to the position of head coach. After being a part of the team for 12 years he was fired by the Eagles.
After his 12-year-long journey with the Eagles came to an end, he signed a new deal with the Carolina Panthers in 2011 as their defensive coordinator. After serving the Panthers for over five years, McDermott decided to move on.
