The Pacific-most football team in the NFL is the Seattle Seahawks who play in the NFC Conference. The team was an expansion team and played their first game in the 1976 season. From 1977 to 2001 they played in the AFC Conference and are the only franchise to date to have reached the Conference Championship Round in both conferences.

Known for making the most noise during their home games, the fans make up what is called the 12th man or the 12s. They provide the team with so much energy and support that it feels as if the game is being played as 12 against 11 on the field.

Getting the players all hyped up and inspiring the already motivated crowd at Lumen Field are the beloved Seahawks mascots Blitz and Boom. Both mascots are costumed birds with similar appearance although Boom is made to appeal more to the younger generation whereas Blitz is the first official mascot of the team. Wearing light gray suits with the Seahawks jerseys and deep blue pants, the mascots are always in the center of the celebrations when the team scores.

Off the field, Blitz can be found at various community and charity events. He has also made a number of appearances on news channels adding a bit of fun to the mix. Boom also makes several appearances and is mostly found with events related to the youth.

Blitz and Boom Salaries

The mascots in the NFL are generally all paid in the similar range of $50,000 to $60,000 annually. This salary includes all appearances at the home games and various team events that may be centered around marketing and promotions.

Blitz is reported to earn somewhere around $50,000 annually as a mascot for the team. While the exact salary of Boom could not be found, it is highly likely that he may be earning around the same salary or slightly less.

Apart from the mascots' official salaries from the team, they also earn a side income by attending various events such as visits to birthday parties, corporate parties, other get-togethers and more.

Who is inside the Blitz Seahawks mascot?

In a shocking revelation to many, the Seahawks’ Blitz costume is donned by one Ryan Asdourian who is also an employee at Microsoft. Ryan is actually living a dual life with his serious Microsoft job on one hand and then the fun and goofy Blitz mascot job on the other.

Both of his connections began early during his college life. While he was a student at the University of Florida, his roommate was a cheerleader and that’s when he began thinking about playing a mascot. He first started a mascot job by becoming the University of Florida’s Albert E. Gator in rotation with other students. His Microsoft job started out when he became an intern at the company and then returned to the same place after his graduation.

At Microsoft, he has worked his way up the ladder and has earned quite a reputation for being an entertainer. Shortly after relocating to Seattle, he got in touch with the Seahawks franchise for a potential opening for the role of the mascot as the previous performer was looking to leave his job. Asdourian thus got the Blitz mascot job in 2006 after the team liked his exuberance and he had the experience to go with it.

Asdourian says that before the team’s games, he usually likes to take a walk around the field to get the excitement all built up before donning his mascot. And when he is ready and comes out in full costume he completely feeds off the energy of the crowd. For him the more the crowd is into it the more energy he feels, and vice-versa.
