Shannon Sharpe sides with AJ Brown in Twitter spat over Super Bowl LVII loss

AJ Brown proved in the 2022 season that he is one of the top wide receivers in the NFL. Brown was a major reason why the Philadelphia Eagles made it to Super Bowl LVII in the 2022 season. However, the Eagles star found himself in a Twitter dispute with Kansas City Chiefs receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster.

On a recent episode of Undisputed, Shannon Sharpe gave his take as to whose side he is on between the two. Sharpe sided with Brown on the social media beef, noting Smith-Schuster's role within the Chiefs offense.

Sharpe said:

"He's absolutely right. Everything that A.J. Brown said is true. He [Juju] probably was on his way out the league. He goes to Kansas City and plays with Patrick Mahomes. And he has a little revival of his career."

The war of words between AJ Brown and Smith-Schuster started when the Chiefs wideout tweeted out a Valentine's Day card. The card read: "I'll hold you when it matters the most" with Eagles cornerback James Bradberry's face on it.

Brown responded to the tweet, calling Smith-Schuster a "TikToy" boy while congratulating him for the victory in Super Bowl LVII:

AJ Brown had six receptions for 96 yards and a touchdown in the game, while Smith-Schuster caught seven passes for 53 yards. Although Brown had the better stat line, the former Pittsburgh Steelers star had the last laugh in the final game of the 2022 NFL season.

How the beef between AJ Brown and Juju-Smith-Schuster came about

In the fourth quarter of Super Bowl LVII, Smith-Schuster was guarded by Bradberry on a third-and-eight at the Eagles' 15-yard line. However, a controversial penalty was called on Bradberry for defensive holding, giving the Chiefs a first down with under two minutes left in the game.

Chiefs would go on to kick a game-winning field goal to win the Super Bowl 38 - 35. After the game, Bradberry noted that the questionable penalty was the right call made by the officials:

“I feel like I only had two options, really: I could take responsibility for it or I could blame it on someone else. I try not to live that way. It comes from my mom or coaches in the past I’ve had, taking accountability.”

Despite taking responsibility for the call, many fans felt that the tweet by Smith-Schuster was uncalled for. Nonetheless, we will see if the beef between him and AJ Brown is over.
