Shawn Hochuli is an American professional football official whose officiating career began in the 2014 season and in 2018 he was promoted to referee from back judge to referee. This decision was widely criticized all around the league because at that time Shawn was pretty young and didn't have as much experience as many other senior officials, this decision was labeled as a direct example of nepotism. He was the head referee in the Arena XXIV between the Jacksonville Sharks and Arizona Rattlers and was also the head referee for a 2017 pre-season game.

Before his journey as an NFL referee, Hochuli also played college football with the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens football team at Pitzer College. In 2014 he worked as a side judge and he has also worked as an official in the Pac-12 Conference, Arena Football League, and arenafootball2 games. He was born in Tempe, Arizona on June 25, 1978, As of now he is 45 years old. Despite being criticized for a long time, Hochuli has been praised for his communication skills and he has the potential to be a great referee.

Ed Huchuli’s career as an official in the NFL began in 1992 when he was promoted to referee. He was the referee in many important games; he also officiated five conference championship games. His career highlight was when he was chosen to be the referee of Super Bowl XXXII, which was held at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, California between the Green Bay Packers and the Denver Broncos. He was the referee of Super Bowl XXXVIII, which was held at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, California between the Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas between the Carolina Panthers and the New England Patriots.

He is a former American attorney and former American professional football official and is also the father of Shawn Hochuli. He worked in the National Football League (NFL) as an official from 1990 to 2017. Hochuli was born on December 25, 1950, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Ed Hochuli had six children with his first wife Bonnie namely Heather Hochuli, Jennie Hochuli, Rachel Hochuli, Scott Hochuli, Shawn Hochuli, and Aaron Hochuli. In 1999, Ed Huchuli and his wife Bonnie Huchuli got divorced and he married his second wife Cathie Huchuli in 2009. Currently, Hochuli resides in the Phoenix metropolitan area with his wife Cathie.
