When Devin Singletary signed for the Giants in 2024, he had an unenviable job. He was supposed to replace fan-favorite Saquon Barkley as the running back for the New York franchise, who were looking to return to the playoffs after missing out in 2023.

It is safe to say that things have not gone according to plan. Going into Week 14 of the season, the Giants have a 2-10 record. It is the joint-worst in the league along with the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Las Vegas Raiders. It also makes it the worst record in the NFC.

They will not feature in the postseason but it does not mean that they have nothing to play for. Beyond pride, the players are fighting for their jobs. They have already moved on from Daniel Jones and will have a new starting quarterback next season. Whether wholesale changes will spare the running back position will be determined by how Devin Singletary performs for the rest of the season.

Should I drop Devin Singletary for Week 14 fantasy football?

Luckily for Devin Singletary and the Giants, they are taking on another team with a losing record in Week 14. The Saints come into this match with a 4-8 record.

New Orleans has the third-worst defense in the league, giving up 385.1 yards per game on average. Only the Jaguars and the Panthers fared worse. They are giving up yards both through the air and on the ground, which makes it likely that New York receivers and running backs could have a field day against them.

Since the Giants' quarterback situation is shaky at best, they could choose to run the ball with Devin Singletary and maximize the rushing gains. But the running back has less than 100 yards in the last four games, including just 3 yards in two carries against the Buccaneers.

Last week New York faced Dallas, who have the second-worst run defense in the country. Despite that, Devin Singletary gained just 23 yards on seven attempts and was shut down after the first half. Therefore, it does not look likely that he will fare any better in the upcoming game, despite facing a weak opponent. Fantasy football managers should consider dropping him for Week 14.

Devin Singletary's fantasy outlook for rest of 2024 season

The Giants running back has 349 rushing yards in 87 carries this season, which equates to 4 yards per attempt. It is nowhere near the best in the league. The last time he had more than 50 yards in a game was in Week 3 against the Browns. Excluding that match and the one before against the Commanders, he has less than 200 yards in the remaining games. He also has just three touchdowns for the year.

After the game against the Saints in Week 14, Devin Singletary will face the Ravens, Falcons, Colts, and Eagles. Baltimore has the second-best run defense in the NFL after the Vikings, allowing just 82.7 yards on the ground per game. Atlanta is in the middle of the pack while Indianapolis is among the the three worst teams when it comes to giving up rushing yards. The Eagles, meanwhile, are the meanest defense in the league.

Given who the Giants have still to face and accounting for Devin Singletary's record this season, it does not bode well for fantasy football managers to stick with the New York rusher. There might be better value found in other running backs who have weaker opponents and who do find themselves in an offensive flux toward the conclusion of this season. Whether it is Week 14 or the games beyond that, the situation does not look too rosy for the NFC East franchise or its player.
