Devin Singletary opened the 2024 fantasy football season as the starting running back for the New York Giants. He led their backfield in total touches in each of his first four games this year before suffering an injury. Since his return, he has seemingly lost the featured role to rookie Tyrone Tracy Jr.
His diminished role in an already weak offensive system has resulted in Singletary finishing as the RB47 or worse in each of his past three games. This makes him a potential outright drop candidate from fantasy rosters ahead of the Week 9 slate of games for the 2024 season.

Devin Singletary is facing an unfortunate situation with the New York Giants. He had a firm hold on the starting running back role, but Tyrone Tracy had an opportunity to fill in for him when he was injured. Tracy was extremely impressive and surpassed Singletary on the depth, even in the three games since he has returned from his injury.
This makes Singletary a legitimate drop candidate, but managers may want to hold onto him for at least one more week. Tracy is currently dealing with a concussion and may be unavailable for the Ginats' Week 9 game against the Washington Commanders.
If Tracy is unable to play, Singletary is likely to once again serve as the featured running back. This makes him a decent streaming option for Week 9 lineups, and if he can impress in this situation, he may be able to earn himself a larger workload going forward even when Tracy does return.
Devin Singletary fantasy outlook for rest of 2024 season
Devin Singletary was relatively solid in fantasy football across his first four games of the 2024 season while serving as the Giants' starting running back. He finished as the RB18 and RB10 in two of those games and scored a touchdown in both of them.
In his two most recent games, Singletary totaled just seven carries for 29 yards and played in less than 40% of the offensive snaps in both of them. He has clearly taken a backseat to rookie Tyrone Tracy, who has capitalized on his opportunity at a larger workload.
This significantly hurts Singletary's fantasy outlook for the rest of the 2024 season. It seems unlikely that he will climb his way back to being a solid lineup option unless Tracy struggles or suffers an injury.
