Keenan Allen fantasy projections for Week 9

Keenan Allen has been having a disappointing 2024 fantasy football season in his first year with the Chicago Bears. He was previously an elite wide receiver during his career with the Los Angeles Chargers, but a team change during the offseason has been detrimental to his overall fantasy value.

The veteran shockingly ranks as just the WR78 ahead of Week 9 and has turned in just one weekly finish inside of the top 50 wide receivers. He is extremely difficult to trust in fantasy lineups amid his unproductive season and has even become an outright drop candidate from most fantasy rosters.

Keenan Allen spent most of his NFL career as the leading wide receiver for the Los Angeles Chargers. He was traded to the Chicago Bears during the offseason and joined a relatively crowded group of wide receivers that also includes DJ Moore and Rome Odunze. Allen has yet to eclipse 50 receiving yards in a single game this year and both of his touchdowns came in the same week.

Considering his massive competiton for targets in an offense that also has a strong rushing game led by D'Andre Swift, it's hard to imagine Allen bouncing back in a major way during the 2024 fantasy football season. This makes him a realistic drop candidate from most rosters, especially in leagues that have higher-upside options on the waiver wire ahead of Week 9.

Keenan Allen fantasy outlook for rest of 2024 season

Keenan Allen entered the 2024 fantasy football season as one of the most consistently reliable wide receivers. He has finished six of the past seven seasons ranked among the top 15 wide receivers and the one exception was a year in which he was limited to just 10 games.

The issue is that all those seasons came with the Los Angeles Chargers, but his first year with the Chicago Bears has been a completely different story. He currently ranks as just the WR78 and has finished outside of the top 50 wide receivers in four of his five games. His season-best WR8 finish came as a result of scoring two touchdowns, but he only recorded 41 yards in that game.

Allen has seemingly become an afterthought for Caleb Williams in the Bears' passing attack as he has failed to exceed five receptions in a single game this year. Despite playing in a season-high 97% of the offensive snaps last week, he turned in just two receptions for 39 yards. He currently can't be trusted in starting lineups and makes sense as a drop candidate in Week 9 fantasy football.
