Tyler Lockett has been a consistently good fantasy football wide receiver during his career with the Seattle Seahawks. He has finished among the top 15 players in his position in five of the past six years. The 2024 NFL season has been a different story as he currently ranks as just the WR56, making him a candidate to be dropped from fantasy rosters.
Should I drop Tyler Lockett for Week 4 Fantasy Football?
Tyler Lockett has exceeded 70 receptions and 100 targets in each of his past five seasons with the Seattle Seahawks. He is off to a slower start to the 2024 season as he has recorded just 13 receptions on 17 targets through his first three games. He has also posted just 138 yards and has failed to score a touchdown so far this year.

Through the first three weeks of the 2024 fantasy football season, Lockett ranks as the WR56. He also has just one weekly finish among the top 50 wide receivers this year, making him extremely difficult to trust in starting lineups. In fact, this makes him a potential candidate to drop from rosters, despite his history of being a reliable wide receiver.
Lockett appears to have fallen to the WR3 on the Seahawks' depth chart behind DK Metcalf and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. He also barely qualifies as a WR5 on most fantasy rosters based on his overall ranking so far. Both of these factors suggest that he is safe to drop in most formats at this point. His weekly floor is dangerous to trust, while his upside is limited by his target competition in Seattle.
Tyler Lockett fantasy outlook for rest of 2024 season
Jaxon Smith-Njigba has clearly ourperformed Lockett through the first three weeks of the 2024 fantasy football season. His 17 receptions on 21 targets for 175 yards are all superior, as well as his WR43 ranking. DK Metcalf has been even more productive as the current WR7 overall with 17 receptions on 24 targets for 262 yards and two touchdowns.
Being the WR3 on any NFL roster makes it extremely difficult for any player to be a trustworthy option in fantasy football lineups. Add in the fact that the Seahawks play in a run-first offensive scheme, and Lockett's fantasy outlook doesn't look promising this year. While he may provide value as a depth piece on benches, his lack of significant upside makes him disposable in fantasy football.
