Should I drop Tyreek Hill? Week 5 fantasy projection for Dolphins WR

More than a few WR1s are trending downwards after four weeks of football and Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill is bang in the middle of that list. Since Tua Tagovailoa went down with a concussion, the Dolphins offense has been easily among the worst in the league. Hindsight is always 20/20 but it's baffling that the Dolphins decided they didn't need a veteran quarterback like Joe Flacco in the event that Tua went down with any form of injury.

But anyway, here we are, entering Week 5, with Tyreek Hill's fantasy outlook looking ever more grim.

Should I drop Tyreek Hill?

Here we are, entering Week 4. Tyreek Hill doesn't have a premier option at quarterback. Patrick Mahomes doesn't have a premier option at wide receiver. One offense has managed to keep things on an even kilter despite a laundry list of injuries. Another has collapsed entirely with their $212 million quarterback on injured reserve.

How we get here is a question that has an obvious answer but what to do with Tyreek Hill is one that doesn't exactly have a clear-cut answer. Tagovailoa will be out until Week 8 at the very least. For some reason, the Dolphins saw enough in Week 4 to start Tyler Huntley in Week 5.

Since Tagovailoa suffered a concussion against the Bills, Hill has racked up a mere 63 yards on seven receptions and 12 targets. Those are dire numbers.

We've seen several teams react and steady the ship after losing their starting quarterbacks. The Browns did it last year when Joe Flacco stepped up and led them to the playoffs. The Colts did it this week when Anthony Richardson went down with a hip injury, following which Flacco once again stepped up and kept the offense ticking.

The Panthers, Packers and Vikings all had to deal with injuries at the quarterback position but didn't regress as much as the Dolphins have. Week 5's Patriots matchup is a decent one for the Dolphins to get some things going on offense, but consider this. Standout corner Christian Gonzalez will likely be on Tyreek Hill duties all afternoon. He held Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk to a combined 12 yards last week when he drew coverage.

While you'd expect Hill to get the better of the Patriots corner on Sunday, you'd still have to rely on Tyler Huntley finding Hill down the field.

Hill still has big-play ability so we'd suggest sticking with him for another week but time is running out for Mike McDaniel to get things in order.
