Zack Moss fantasy football advice

Zack Moss opened the 2024 fantasy football season as the starting running back for the Cincinnati Bengals' potentially high-scoring offense. He has been relatively solid in that role, currently ranking as the overall RB18 entering Week 6. The issue is that he suffered a foot injury last week that could potentially force him to miss some time.

Further complicating his fantasy outlook is that he rushed for a season-low 24 yards in his most recent game. His decreasing value and potential injury situation has made him a candidate to be dropped from fantasy rosters prior to this week's slate of games.

Zack Moss has been relatively solid during the 2024 fantasy football season so far, but he has been losing some of his workload to Chase Brown as the season has progressed. Moss played in more than 75% of the offensive snaps for the Cincinnati Bengals in each of his first three games, but less than 65% of the snap in each of the past two weeks.

The more touches that Moss gives away to Brown, who has proven to be more explosive in the backfield, the worse his fantasy outlook gets going forward. Add in the fact that he suffered a foot injury that kept him out of practice on Wednesday to start Week 6 and it's a reasonable move to drop him from fantasy rosters at this point.

Zack Moss fantasy outlook for rest of 2024 NFL season

Zack Moss was impressive last season with the Indianapolis Colts when he opened the year as their starting running back to fill in for Jonathan Taylor. Moss finished among the top 10 weekly fantasy football running backs in five of his first seven games. This is likely why the Bengals gave him a shot to be their starter this year when Joe Mixon departed the team during the offseason.

Moss has been decently effective as the overall RB18 through the first five weeks in his new role, but his efficiency has been an issue. He is currently averaging just 3.7 yards per carry and has scored just two rushing touchdowns in five games with the Bengals.

Chase Brown has been far more explosive with his opportunities, averaging 5.6 yards per carry and totaling three touchdowns, despite never appearing in more than 40% of the snaps this year. This is a trend to keep a close eye on as it's becoming realistic that Brown takes over as the starter over Moss, even if the veteran is able to play through his foot injury.
