The Minnesota Vikings may have been 8-1 when they entered Sunday's matchup against the Dallas Cowboys, but their performance on the field was not that of a dominant team. The Cowboys' 40-3 win over the Vikings put Dallas back into the playoff conversation and may have shown a few weaknesses for Minnesota.

But their inability to stop Dallas from going up and down the field wasn't the only mistake the team made on Sunday. Days before the game, the Minnesota Vikings' official Twitter page asked fans to share the stories of family and friends who served in the military. The team planned to honor those who served. They also offered two tickets to a fan who sent in a Tweet.

Before the game, a Tweet from a Twitter user named Kyle appeared on the video board. He tagged the team in his Tweet and included a photo of his "Cousin Joel," who he said served in the Army. Kyle went on to say that Joel was his childhood hero and that he was a huge Vikings fan. While it appeared to be a nice sentiment from one cousin to the other, it was actually false. Johnny Sins, an adult film actor, was featured in the Tweet.

“This is my cousin who served in the Army. He has always been an inspiration and someone I look up to for his heroism. He is also a HUGE Vikes fan #skolsalute.”

The tweet immediately went viral and fans couldn't believe that the team believed the story. Some on Twitter said that the person who put out the tweet may be out of a job.

Vikings QB Kirk Cousins sacked a career-high seven times

The Dallas Cowboys win over the Minnesota Vikings was dominant on Sunday. The Cowboys had just lost to the Green Bay Packers, a game they felt they should have won. Minnesota was 8-1 at home, but their performance on the field suggested otherwise.

Kirk Cousins entered Sunday's game with a 2-8 record against the Dallas Cowboys, his most losses against any team in the NFL. The Cowboys sacked Cousins seven times, a career-high for the 34-year-old quarterback.

Cousins finished 12 for 23 with 105 yards passing, and the Vikings had only 183 yards total offense in four quarters.

Minnesota will need to put this defeat behind them quickly, as they only have four days until their next game. On Thursday, the New England Patriots will visit town for a Thanksgiving primetime game.
