Three-time Super Bowl winner Steve Young started his career playing for the Los Angeles Express in the United States Football League. He signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1985. He is known for his time with the San Francisco 49ers with whom he won all of his Super Bowls. He won Super Bowl XXIII (1989), Super Bowl XXIV (1990), and Super Bowl XXIX (1995) with the San Francisco 49ers. Steve Young was a backup to 49ers legendary quarterback Joe Montana, but he took over from Joe Montana as the starting quarterback. Steve Young is a Hall of Famer and has been a Super Bowl MVP (1995) and NFL MVP (1992 and 1994).

Steve Young spent his initial seasons at the 49ers as a backup quarterback to Joe Montana. The 49ers won two Super Bowl titles when he was still a backup to Joe Montana. Steve Young helped the team reach the playoffs which led to Super Bowl XXIII (1989) and Super Bowl XXIV(1990) but he did not start those games. The San Francisco 49ers won those matches with Joe Montana as the starting quarterback.

Steve Young established himself as the starting quarterback in 1991 and he started his first Super Bowl match in 1995 (Super Bowl XXIX). The 49ers defeated the San Diego Chargers (now Los Angeles Chargers) in the match 49-26. Steve Young was named the Super Bowl MVP as he became the first player ever to win a Super Bowl by leading in rushing yards and passing yards. Young threw for 325 yards and also rushed 49 yards in the game.
