An exciting prospect in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft is Storm Duck, a defensive back who last played in 2023 as a student-athlete in college. Now, Duck is looking to take the next step to the NFL as he awaits draft day a couple of months from now. Born in Boiling Springs, North Carolina, this talented redshirt senior has spent a good part of the last five years honing his skills at the collegiate level.
Duck is an exceptional cornerback in the sense that he attacks the receivers aggressively and is a hard tackler. He can close the gap to the runner quickly and has the ability to transition easily from coverage to stop the running play. The former Tar Heels’ defender has shown his skills in both man and zone defenses and is especially adept at reading receiver routes.
However, while there are many positives in his game, there are some obvious areas of concern that will need to be addressed. A couple of areas where he lacks is good recovery speed despite his overall quickness and the fact that many times he has shown the tendency to not finish off tackles. The latter is something that can be easily corrected once he enters the professional level in the NFL.

Duck started his college-level football career when he joined the University of North Carolina (UNC) and played for the North Carolina Tar Heels football team from 2019 to 2022. Even as a true freshman in 2019, Duck started 9 games and appeared in all 13 games that year. He would finish his freshman year with 37 total tackles. His five pass breakups and two interceptions were good enough for second place on the team.
In 2020, Duck entered his sophomore year but could only play in two games as he missed the remainder of the season due to an injury. The following year as a junior, Duck had 16 total tackles in the six games that he played.
His senior year in 2022 proved to be his best outing yet in a Tar Heels jersey. From 12 games he managed to record 46 tackles, nine pass breakups, 3 interceptions, and a forced fumble. His overall contribution on the turf earned him second-team All-ACC honors. On the academic front, Duck graduated from UNC with a degree in exercise and sports science.
Duck would then return to college football in 2023 but this time he transferred to Penn State for a few months before moving on to play for the Louisville Cardinals football team. As a redshirt senior, Duck appeared in 12 games but his numbers took a hit. He finished the year registering 32 tackles and had 1 sack.
