Super Bowl LV was played on February 7th, 2021, at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, champions of the NFC, faced off against the Kansas City Chiefs, champions of the AFC. The game was coached by Bruce Arians for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Andy Reid for the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Buccaneers had a solid regular season, finishing with a record of 11-5. They entered the playoffs as a Wild Card team and then defeated the Washington Football Team, the New Orleans Saints, and the NFC Championship Game against the Green Bay Packers to advance to the Super Bowl. Free agent Tom Brady joined the "Bucs" in the off-season and led the team's offense, completing 401 passes for 4,633 yards and 40 touchdowns, and the defense was led by outside linebacker Jason Pierre-Paul, who recorded 8.5 sacks that season under defensive coordinator Todd Bowles. They had made a number of key signings this season, including Rob Gronkowski, Leonard Fournette, and Ndamukong Suh. The team started slow but found its identity as the season drew to a close.

The Chiefs also had a successful regular season, finishing with a record of 14-2. They won their division and then defeated the Cleveland Browns and the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship Game to advance to the Super Bowl LV. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes led the team's offense, completing 385 passes for 4,740 yards and 38 touchdowns, and the defense was solid, led by defensive tackle Chris Jones, who recorded 9.5 sacks that season.

Super Bowl LV was dominated on both sides of the ball by the Buccaneers. The Buccaneers' defense held the Chiefs to 9 points, and the offense, led by Brady, who threw for 201 yards and 3 touchdowns, scored 31 points and went on to win by a score of 31-9. Tom Brady was named the Super Bowl MVP after his outstanding performance. The win marked the Buccaneers' second Super Bowl victory in franchise history and the seventh win for Tom Brady, which is more than any franchise has ever won.
