Second-year running back Tank Bigsby is expected to be featured more in the Jacksonville Jaguars backfield. After he rushed for just 132 yards on 50 carries in his rookie season, Bigsby and the Jags are looking for more production and touches from the 2023 third-round pick.

Travis Etienne has emerged as one of the better RBs in the NFL as he rushed for over 1,000 yards last season. Jaguars coach Doug Pederson spoke to the media in July and said that he'd like to get Bigsby more involved.

“Yeah, I think Tank has a bigger role, you know, this year, in Year 2. We definitely know we’ve got to take a little bit off of Travis [Etienne], and keep him healthy for an entire season. Travis does a great job with that, but yeah, I think Tank’s role can definitely increase, especially in those short-yardage situations."

After Bigsby's Week 1 performance against the Miami Dolphins, it seems that Pederson is staying true to his word. Bigsby carried the ball 12 times for 73 yards and averaged 6.1 yards per carry. However, he didn't carry the ball even once during the Jaguars' Week 2 loss to the Cleveland Browns.

Tank Bigsby injury update: What happened to Jaguars RB?

There's a reason why Tank Bigsby didn't carry the ball in the Jaguars' loss to the Browns.

Bigsby briefly left the game after he took a massive shot on a kick return in the second quarter and injured his shoulder. He went to the blue medical tent and didn't play on offense in the second half.

Backup RB D'Ernest Johnson took his spot and had five carries for 26 yards. Even though Bigsby returned to the game on Sunday, it likely affected his role in the second half. There is still no update if Tank Bigsby will play this Sunday, but given that he returned to the game against the Browns, one can think he will play this weekend.
