
Taylor Heinicke is a professional American Football quarterback for the Los Angeles Chargers in the NFL as of 2024. Heinicke went undrafted in the 2015 NFL draft but as an undrafted free agent signed with the Minnesota Vikings. He started his professional football career at Collins Hill High School though he played well to earn Old Spice National Player of the Year-Georgia. Heinicke joined college at the University of Old Dominion in 2011. In his freshman year, he performed well and made 211 passes out of 307 attempts, with 25 touchdowns and a single interception. For his exceptional performance, he received the College Football Performance Award for Freshman Performer of the Year and the College Football Performance Award for Quarterback. His success story was the same during his second season, which enabled him to be named the CAA Offensive Player of the Year and the first-team All-CAA quarterback.
In his junior year (2013), Heinickle had three over 4,000 yards and 33 touchdowns, which added him to an elite group of Division I quarterbacks to throw for over a hundred touchdowns in his college career. His junior year turned out to be his finest season, and he was picked as Conference USA Honorable Mention after he had posted 3,476 passing yards and 30 touchdown passes in 12 games in 2014. Heinicke’s professional career began after college after which he moved from one team to the other in the NFL. In his career, he has played with the New England Patriots, the Houston Texans and then the Carolina Panthers in 2018. In 2020 he signed with St. Louis BattleHawks of XFL followed by Washington Football Team. Heinicke was with Washington until 2023 when he transferred to the Atlanta Falcons team on a two-year deal.
