Bridgewater was selected as the 32nd pick in the first round by the Minnesota Vikings in the NFL draft of 2014 and he signed a deal of four years worth $6.85 million with the Minnesota Vikings he finished as the second one-string quarterback for the group. In 2015 in a game against the Seattle Seahawks, he played his career best-performing game where in the following game he had 17-of-24 for 146 yards. Bridgewater suffered a leg injury during his practice session and after the required tests it was revealed that will not be able to participate in the 2016 season. The Minnesota Vikings did not use the 5th year option in the contract of Bridgewater making him a free agent.
In 2018 he signed a deal of one year with the New York Jets however he was traded to the New Orleans Saints. He signed a deal of one year worth $7.25 million with the Saints and carried out nicely during the 2019 season. He then signed a deal of three years of worth $63 million with the Carolina Panthers and performed his debut game against the Las Vegas Raiders he finished the following season with career best stats where he recorded 3,733 passing yards, 15 touchdowns and 279 rushing yards. In 2021 Bridgewater was traded to the Denver Broncos. In the 2022 season, he signed a deal of one year worth $10 million with the Miami Dolphins after performing brilliantly in the following season for the Miami Dolphins in 2023 signed a new deal with Detroit Lions.
