The Cincinnati Bengals suffered a painful loss against the New England Patriots without Tee Higgins, one of their best players. The talented wide receiver suffered a hamstring injury that prevented him from suiting up in the 16-10 home loss to the AFC East team.

The Bengals will face off against the Kansas City Chiefs this week and having a fully fit Higgins will be crucial for their aspirations. That said, it's time to see if there's been some progress for Higgins or if the Bengals and fantasy managers will be without him on the field for another week.

Tee Higgins injury update

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor was discreet when discussing Higgins' status for Sunday. The coach noted that the wide receiver is 'making good progress' ahead of Sunday's showdown, but added that he and more players will be 'managed' through the week.

Having a day-to-day status leaves Higgins' participation in the Chiefs game up in the air. Ja'Marr Chase is back after his contract saga, but if they want to move past the back-to-back Super Bowl winners, they will likely need more weapons.

Higgins has a history of injuries, which could lead the Bengals to rule him out for another game. Hamstring injuries are, anyway, often hard to heal.

NFL insider casts doubts on Tee Higgins' availability this week

Even before Zac Taylor provided his update regarding Tee Higgins, senior NFL insider Adam Schefter said he'd be surprised if the receiver made it to Sunday's game.

"He's got a hamstring injury, and we'll see how the week plays out," Schefter said on The Pat McAfee Show. "But I'll be surprised if he plays this week against the Chiefs."

Knowing how the Bengals feel about the Chiefs, losing to them and falling to 0-2 to start the season will be tough. Still, they have Joe Burrow and Chase to compete against Patrick Mahomes, the revamped Chiefs' offense and the impressive defense of Steve Spagnuolo.

Update on Tee Higgins' status for Week 2

According to recent reports, Tee Higgins will most likely miss another week.
