Football is a violent sport with the possibility of career-threatening injuries at any moment. Although that aspect of the game brings excitement among fans, sometimes it can turn out to be a dreadful sight for the viewers, especially when they are from the family of the athletes. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes experienced it firsthand when he was tackled by Mack Wilson.
Former Cleveland Browns linebacker Mack Willson tweeted an apology to Mahomes' mother on Jan. 19, 2021:
“No disrespect, Mom, I’m just playing hard. This is a dangerous game we play, and we take a risk every time we step foot on the field. I’m happy that Pat is okay, but mind you... I’ve never been a dirty player. I just want to win and be great like your son. 🙏🏾❤️”

Patrick Mahomes cheers backup QB Chad Henne after harsh tackle
Mack Wilson's apology referenced an unfortunate incident between him and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes from the third quarter of a divisional playoff game between the Chiefs and the Browns in January 2021.
The Chiefs were leading 19-10 and ready for their third-and-1 attempt.
With 7:43 left in the quarter, Mahomes attempted a rush as Wilson came from behind to tackle him. The QB hit the ground on his head, leaving him dizzy as he tried to stand up on his own.
After the harsh tackle, Mahomes was helped off the field as he was unable to stand on his feet. Later, the team tweeted that the 2018 NFL MVP was being evaluated for a concussion while backup Chad Henne replaced him for the game.
Mahomes cheered on Henne by tweeting:
“#HenneThingIsPossible (Anything is possible).”

Mack Wilson, 22 then, was also concerned about Patrick Mahomes's safety and tweeted:
“Prayers to @PatrickMahomes. I pray you are back next week! Go be great like you have been!”
A concerned Wilson received a response from Patrick Mahomes, who tweeted:
“All good, brother!”
Later the Chiefs updated fans that Mahomes was out for the game, but the Chiefs eventually won 22-17. After the game, Brittany Mahomes, then his girlfriend, posted another update on his health status.
“I’m fine; Patrick's fine. Thanks for all the prayers! WE STILL GOT A GAME TO WIN LET'S GOOOOOO!!!”
Patrick Mahomes wasn’t out for long and came back in the next game to beat the Buffalo Bills 38-24, courtesy of his three touchdowns.
