Tom Brady once boosted Aston Martin's car price to $360,000 with his TB12 signature

NFL great Tom Brady is not just an athlete but also a renowned celebrity. Considered one of the greatest athletes, his name transcended beyond the game as he became a global icon. He has multiple businesses running under his TB12 umbrella, which was once put to great use by the British car manufacturing brand Aston Martin.

In May 2017, the car brand roped in Brady with the idea of selling a convertible to the North American audience for a whopping price of $360,000. After all, these brand-new cars were limited editions and signed by the seven-time Super Bowl winner.

“We started with a blank canvas and finished with a beautiful car," the former New England Patriots QB stated in October 2017. "It's been great to see it all come to fruition.”

Tom Brady resonates with Aston Martin's premium cars

The car in reference is the second generation of the Vanquish S series, the Volante with the TB12 logo, limited to just 12 vehicles, Brady’s signature number from his days with the Patriots. The doorsill plates carry his signature, while his iconic "TB12" logo can be seen throughout the vehicle, including on the fender and the headrests.

The makers were aware of the Brady brand and wanted to test its marketability.

“We're looking for partnerships that make the brand resonate and to make sure people know who we are," Laura Schwab, North American president, told ESPN. "Tom and Aston Martin are similarly aligned in their path to excellence.”

The product became available to consumers in 2018 after sales began in late 2017. Featuring a 5.9-liter V12 engine producing 595 horsepower, it reaches a top speed of 201 mph and accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds. The car boasts an ultramarine black exterior, a dark leather interior, and paddle shift tips crafted from California poppy leather.

When Brady was asked about his experience of owning an Aston Martin, he revealed that he is a fan of sports cars. He has a vast collection of vehicles that would cost above $5 million in total.

“As a long-time fan and driver, I am honored to join the Aston Martin team at this special moment in the company's history," Brady said.

Aston Martin’s CEO, Marek Reichman, told ESPN that Brady was equally excited for the project.

"His world is very short in terms of timing. So one thing he made clear to us was that he wanted to be able to make a move and feel the immediacy of performance," Reichman said.

Besides the Volante, Brady also owns a 2017 DB11 that was earlier priced at 211,000.
