Tom Brady is retiring from the NFL for good, as he announced on social media yesterday. He's walking away after a poor year that he decided to unretire for and he claims this is it for him.
The next step for him is presumably to join the FOX broadcast booth for the contract he signed a while ago, but that could have unexpected consequences.
Greg Olsen has quickly become a fan favorite on the FOX broadcast, with many believing he is the best commentator in the game. Now that Brady is set to join the team, Olsen no longer has a spot.
A couple of NFL fans believe this is extremely unfortunate.

Danny Parkins tweeted:
"Greg Olsen’s agents first call should be to Fox… are you really going to take a risk on Brady being bad? Next call to NBC and ask if they’re still happy with Collinsworth. We know Romo and Aikman are locked in. Olsen deserves a prime-time gig."
Olsen has been fantastic this postseason and has proven himself as an excellent commentator.
Zack Cox added:
"This is a tough break for Greg Olsen. He’s been very good on FOX’s top broadcast team in these playoffs, and Brady’s retirement sets him up to take Olsen’s job next season."
Olsen previously expressed concern over whether or not Brady would come to take his spot and it seems that is coming true. What's next for Olsen is currently unclear.
Why is Tom Brady retiring?
Tom Brady didn't specify exactly why he was retiring in his social media announcement, but it's not hard to assume why. He's 45 and will be 46 by the time the next regular season begins.
He also easily had the worst season of his career. His team's record was bad and they were incredibly lucky to even make the playoffs before getting blown out at home.
Statistically, it wasn't a horrendous year for Brady, but it wasn't very good for him. It was clear all year long that he wasn't the same player he used to be and he probably decided it was better to walk away now before it got even worse.
