Tom Brady is staring down what could be the final home stretch of his NFL career. The decision doesn't have to be finalized for some time, but hordes of people are giving the quarterback advice, including his potential future colleagues. According to Sports Illustrated, FOX color commentator Greg Olsen jokingly tried to turn the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback away from joining the team.
Kevin Burkhardt originally let slip in November that Olsen told Brady to stick with football in the first quarter of the season, but only recently did Olsen address the joke. Here's how Olsen put it:
“It is a true story, and Kevin and I had joked leading up to that first Bucs game. I think we had them early in the season. I wanna say it was Week 2 or 3, and we had joked, what do we say to him? Obviously, everyone knows that he potentially could come work for Fox, and it’s my job."

He continued, explaining how he told the quarterback he could do anything else:
"We were just joking around, so it wasn’t anything preplanned. ... I was like, ‘You know, Tom, this TV s--- sucks. Don't even worry about it. I’ll handle it. I’ll deal with all the bulls---. You just keep playing, go be a model, do whatever; you have a thousand things you could do.’ And he got a kick out of it, and we laughed.”
The general sentiment of fans and even the commentator himself is that once Tom Brady dons the headset for FOX, Greg Olsen will be out of a job, at least as part of the network's "A" team.
Multiple quandries lining up for Buccaneers QB Tom Brady in 2023
At the moment, life is almost as normal as it has been for the Buccaneers quarterback at any other time. Aside from a 6-7 record and needing to play his best down the home stretch, he's in a similar routine compared to any other year. However, once the final snap is played, the quarterback will be faced with a new reality.
It will be Brady's first offseason since divorcing Gisele Bundchen. While dealing with that, he will also be pondering whether to continue working on the field in 2023 or if he wants to join the booth. If he wants to stay in the NFL, pundits increasingly believe that he won't be a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers anymore.
