Mock Draft: New York Giants

The 2024 NFL season has been a disaster of epic proportions for the Giants. They did not win a single game during the final three months of the season, losing to some awful teams along the way. It looks as though they will have the first pick of the draft at the time of writing, and despite a vote of confidence from the owner, the futures of Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen are shaky. Let’s take a look at who the Giants could select with their picks through Round 5.

Round 1:

Shedeur Sanders/QB/Colorado - Cutting Daniel Jones in the middle of the season was a shock, yet it was clear after the first month that his days with the Giants were numbered. Sanders needs a lot of technical work, yet he is higher-rated entering the draft than Jones was when the Giants selected him in 2019 with the sixth pick. Contingency Plan: Cam Ward/QB/Miami

Round 2:

Omarion Hampton/RB/North Carolina - The Giants desperately need a feature runner, as Tyrone Tracy is a solid rotational back.

Round 3:

Fa'alili Fa'amoe/RT/Washington State - Evan Neal has been a complete bust, and a right tackle is a necessity.

Round 4:

Jack Sawyer/Edge Ohio State

Round 5:

Malachi Moore/S/Alabama

Mock Draft: Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys were not playing well before the season-ending hamstring injury to Dak Prescott in Week 9. The big news in the offseason will be the future of Mike McCarthy, who is expected to be released after the team retained him a year ago and let Dan Quinn walk. Right now, it looks as though the Cowboys will be selecting in the middle of every round.

Round 1:

Walter Nolen/DT/Mississippi - The selection of Mazi Smith in the first round of 2023 has been nothing short of a disaster. An offensive tackle or running back would also receive heavy consideration here. Contingency Plan: Ashton Jeanty/RB/Boise State

Round 2:

Wyatt Milum/T/West Virginia - Tyler Guyton could not retain the starting job at left tackle and may be moved to another spot on the offensive line.

Round 3:

Damien Martinez/RB/Miami - Martinez could be the most underrated back in the draft and has big-time ability without a lot of tread on the tires.

Round 4:

Shemar James/LB/Florida

Round 5:

Jaylin Noel/WR/Iowa State

Mock Draft: Washington Commanders

The Commanders franchise did a complete 180 over the course of six months. Previously considered a cesspool of a franchise under Daniel Snyder, new owner Josh Harris brought a winning culture and the proper people to install that culture, and they hope to build off a terrific 2024 draft class. Assuming they make the playoffs, which looks like a good bet, they will be selecting around the 25th pick of each round, with the fourth round notwithstanding after they traded that pick away.

Round 1:

Benjamin Morrison/CB/Notre Dame - After a shaky start, Morrison saw his season cut short with a hip injury. Regardless, he was a lockdown corner the prior two seasons and will give the Commanders a lot of flexibility in their secondary. Contingency Plan: Nic Scourton/Edge/Texas A&M

Round 2:

Elic Ayomanor/WR/Stanford - The true sophomore officially entered the draft and has exciting potential. He could easily develop into the number two receiver for Washington.

Round 3:

Jaydn Ott/RB/California - Ott adds speed and big play ability to the backfield.

Round 5:

Thomas Fidone II/TE/Nebraska

Mock Draft: Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles hit multiple home runs in last year’s draft, led by cornerback Quinyon Mitchell. Yet the most impressive move was signing Saquon Barkley during free agency. This is a team with few holes due to possessing one of the best general managers in the NFL in Howie Roseman, however they don’t presently own a fourth-round pick.

Round 1:

Nic Scourton/Edge/Texas A&M - Roseman is always looking for quality lineman on both sides of the ball. Scourton fits the scheme and can rush the passer. Contingency Plan: Cameron Williams/T/Texas

Round 2:

Jonah Savaiinaea/T/Arizona - The talented blocker is an athletic college left tackle who can be moved to the right side, as the franchise did with Lane Johnson.

Round 3:

Eli Stowers/TE/Vanderbilt - There is a chance Stowers returns to Vandy, as he’s been offered a large NIL deal. If he enters the draft, he’s a perfect move tight end prospect for the Eagles to develop.

Round 5:

Sebastian Castro/S/Iowa
