Tony Pollard had a disappointing season in Dallas before entering free agency and signing for the Tennessee Titans. Hopes were very high for him in fantasy football after what he did in 2022, but the running back was never able to really get going as the starter for the Cowboys. Let's take a look at his fantasy outlook for 2024:

Tony Pollard has a fresh start and another shot at manning the backfield as the RB1. Things didn't go to plan last year when the Cowboys tried that. Picked pretty highly in fantasy drafts, Pollard finished as the 63rd overall player and the RB17 on the season.

He barely cracked 1,000 yards and averaged just over four yards per attempt, scoring six times on the ground. 55 catches for 311 yards and no scores through the air was also a disappointment.

That was also in an offense that was far superior to the one he's in now. The Titans have done a good job providing Will Levis with weapons, but the Dallas offense was supreme in 2023. The 2024 Titans offense won't be that good and Pollard may suffer for it.

Pollard is also set to split carries with Tyjae Spears as the Titans look set to adopt more of a run-by-committee approach than they have in recent years. This is another concern for fantasy players.

He could still provide some value, but Pollard is absolutely a "buyer beware" sort of player. There is talent, as he showed in 2022, but he doesn't have a good track record as a starter.

Is Tony Pollard a good fantasy pick this year?

Tony Pollard is probably not worth the risk this year after struggling as the lead running back in Dallas. If he were playing second fiddle to Derrick Henry, it would be a different story at a lower ADP.

Pollard thrived as the backup to Ezekiel Elliott, partly due to the fact that he was a real change of pace from the Cowboys star. When Elliott left and Pollard got the role he'd earned, he struggled, albeit returning from a long-term injury.

This year, he'll be tasked with picking up the running game in an offense that didn't excel on the ground last year despite having Henry. Pollard is a different kind of running back and in many ways, a downgrade, and that should give fantasy managers pause.

The saving grace is that he's pretty solid out of the backfield on passes. The running back is a better player in that regard than Henry was, and he could see some volume from Will Levis. That is largely the only thing you can count on, so be very wary of Pollard this year.

Where should you pick the Titans RB?

If you're going to draft Tony Pollard, it is imperative that you do not do so too early. At a certain point, every player becomes a bit of a value pick and if you have good running backs on your roster, he could be a solid backup option, too.

Right now, Pollard's ADP is 80th overall as the 28th overall running back. That's a pretty accurate position since he was RB17 last year and could put up lower numbers in 2024.

Anything lower than that and Pollard's value increases. If he gets into the range with Chuba Hubbard and others of similar stature, you should absolutely take Pollard. The Titans star is, according to our fantasy analyzer, a much stronger pick there.

Pollard is a starting running back, which means he is better than most backups. However, the expectations for his season must be tempered since he's been on a downward trajectory and could end up losing the role to Spears.
