Tony Pollard has been a rare bright light in an otherwise woeful season for the Tennessee Titans. The running back has provided consistent output when he has been on the field for a team that is 2-6 going into Week 10 of the 2024 season.
The Titans sit third in the AFC South, and that is only because the 2-7 Jaguars have been one of the worst teams in the league this year. They defeated the Patriots last week, who also have two wins and are at the bottom of the AFC East, but needed overtime to clinch their second victory this season.
Stronger teams like the Bills and the Lions have had comprehensive victories over them, with the only other time they secured a victory was when they faced a depleted Miami Dolphins. They have had trouble resembling a functioning offense, no matter whether Will Levis or Mason Rudolph was playing, despite Tony Pollard putting up steady numbers from the backfield.
If Tennessee is to overcome the Los Angeles Chargers tomorrow, they will need the running back playing at a high level.

Tony Pollard's injury update
Unfortunately, Tony Pollard has been battling a foot injury and did not practice before their Week 9 matchup against the Patriots. Officially listed as questionable, he did take to the field against New England and notched up more than 100 yards in a dominant performance.
That gives us some indication about Week 10, too. He was limited in practice on Wednesday and Friday but sat out on Thursday. However, given he was in worse shape the week prior and still took the field, he should be in line to start on Sunday. He does not have any official game designation, which confirms that he should be available.
How has Tony Pollard performed this season?
Tony Pollard's importance to the Titans cannot be overstated. At times this season, he has been the only spark on their offense. This is reflected in the overall team stats too. Their 296.4 yards per game in offensive yards is among the few that are less than 300. Among them, 125.6 yards have come on the ground, ranking that aspect in the top half of the table.
Overall, Tony Pollard has 622 yards in 142 rushing attempts, at an average of 4.4 yards per carry. He also has three touchdowns for the year. Except for the game against the Packers, where he had six carries for 14 yards, he has managed at least 60 yards on the ground per match. He had a couple of notable games where he got more than 90 yards but he had not reached three figures until last week.
Against the Patriots, he had a season-high 28 carries and 128 yards. It was a solid performance after not practicing the entire week with a foot injury. The running back chalked his success down to his training after the previous game, which allowed him to remain mobile even without participating in sessions.
Given that he has participated in a couple of practice sessions and officially is undesignated for the game, he could be in line for a good Week 10. Fantasy football managers, though, should note that the Chargers are a tough team and are giving up just 107.9 rushing yards on average per match. However, they are also allowing less than 200 yards per week in passing yards, which is among the best in the league as well.
Therefore, one assumes Tony Pollard will see his fair share of carries as complementary football will be necessary if the Titans are to notch their third win of the season.
