As the Dallas Cowboys and the rest of the NFL community undoubtedly knows, Ryan Day is a National Champion. The Ohio State coach now has a chance to follow in the steps of Jim Harbaugh with a jump into the professional league.

Of course, the choice ultimately falls to him, but if he wants to make the jump, five teams would make more sense than others. Here's a look at the top 5 fits in the NFL for Ryan Day.

5 NFL HC fits for Ohio State's Ryan Day

#5 - New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints are trying to figure out which way is up after breaking off with coach Dennis Allen. For all intents and purposes, the last dregs of Sean Payton's touch on the team are seemingly over.

If the team wants to rebuild from the ground up, there might not be a better option than Ryan Day. However, would Day settle for a franchise without a clear vision at quarterback for the foreseeable future?

#4 - Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jacksonville Jaguars have a quarterback who has gotten to the playoffs before, Trevor Lawrence. However, they appear to, at least, lack the man calling the plays to get them there.

Ryan Day would get Trevor Lawrence and a red-hot Brian Thomas Jr. to work with and a quality pick. The team appears only a head coach away from getting right back into the playoff hunt.

#3 - Dallas Cowboys

Jerry Jones' criticism aside, the Dallas Cowboys have perhaps the best roster available for Ryan Day. However, his addition likely would demand results right out of the gate. Day has gotten results in college, but can he do the same at the next level and in his first swing? Jones might not have patience for less.

#2 - New York Jets

The New York Jets, if nothing else, give their head coaches plenty of time to produce. Robert Saleh lasted more than two years. Adam Gase lasted two years. Todd Bowles lasted four years.

All three coaches failed to make the playoffs a single time. As such, any success for Ryan Day seemingly would get him a half-decade leash.

#1 - Las Vegas Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders just watched Jim Harbaugh fix the Los Angeles Chargers overnight. If the Raiders want to see the same result, they should try to follow their example in pursuing the National Champion head coach.

Jon Gruden was initially signed to a 10-year deal, so Mark Davis has shown he is willing to extend plenty of time to coaches of a certain level. Day would have his hands full in the AFC West, but plenty of time to get something done in the division, especially if Tom Brady buys in.
