Travis Etienne Jr. injury update: Should fantasy managers be concerned about Jaguars RB's injury in Fantasy Football Week 8?

Travis Etienne Jr. started his NFL career as a Fantasy Football asset. The Clemson Tigers product registered a stat line of 220 carries, 1125 rushing yards, and five touchdowns in his rookie season. Etienne Jr. amassed 205.1 fantasy points in Year 1, a solid number for any running back.

The Jacksonville Jaguars RB1 continued the good form in 2023 as he amassed 267 carries, 1008 rushing yards, and 11 touchdowns. These stats saw him end the season with 282.4 fantasy points.

Ahead of the Jaguars' Week 8 game against the Green Bay Packers, let's take a look at Etienne Jr.'s latest injury update.

Should fantasy managers be concerned about Travis Etienne Jr.?

According to Deepak Chona, MD. on X (formerly known as Twitter), Travis Etienne Jr. will likely play in Week 8, albeit with a moderate dip in touches.

Etienne Jr. missed Week 7's game against the New England Patriots due to a hamstring injury. He sustained the injury in Week 6 against the Chicago Bears during a London matchup. Tank Bigsby stepped up to replace Etienne Jr. and performed admirably in his absence.

Etienne Jr. was listed as a limited participant in the Jaguars' training sessions ahead of the Packers' game. Hence, fantasy managers shouldn't be too worried about him playing against the Green Bay Packers because he's likely to feature in the matchup.

How has Travis Etienne Jr. performed this season?

However, Travis Etienne Jr.'s form to start the reason can be a cause of worry for fantasy managers and Jaguars fans. The third-year running back has mustered just 56 carries, 230 rushing yards, and two touchdowns in the 2024 NFL season.

He has looked off the pace in numerous games and finished with -1 rushing yards off three carries in his last game. If Etienne Jr. doesn't improve quickly, don't be surprised if Doug Pederson officially relegates him to RB2.

The Jaguars, too, haven't had an ideal start. They're 2-5 entering Week 8. They'll need to string up some wins quickly if they're to have even a remote chance of making the playoffs.
