The Kansas City Chiefs will face the Buffalo Bills on Jan. 27, for the AFC Championship, and fans are expecting another thrilling contest. The Bills have emerged as the Chief's closest rival in recent years. Their recent encounters are a testament to their rivalry, which was once acknowledged by the Chiefs tight end, Travis Kelce in the past.

While addressing the media in a press conference on Jan. 17, TE Travis Kelce was asked about his opinion on the upcoming game.

“We gotta put up points," Kelce said. "That's the biggest thing they got; a great offense. Their defense is stellar… very stout. They play great together. We're just gonna have to come out and make plays offensively. We gotta put up points to give ourselves a chance against a team like this.”

Kelce’s apprehensions before the game were reasonable, as the Bills had put up formidable numbers in the regular season. Despite their 11-6 record, the Bills ranked third in the NFL in scoring offense with 483 points, averaging 28.4 per game. They also ranked fifth overall in offense, ninth in passing, and sixth in rushing.

However, their defense was their stronger suit that season, ranking first in the league overall. A competitive game was expected, and both teams delivered a thriller.

Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills put up another thriller

In January 2022, the Kansas City Chiefs battled the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Divisional Round at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen put on a show for their respective teams on game day. Mahomes passed for 378 yards for three touchdowns, while Allen passed for 329 yards and scored four touchdowns. The closing moments of the game were thrilling, with 28 points scored in the fourth quarter, leading to overtime, where the Chiefs edged past the Bills 42-36.

They faced each other in the AFC Divisional round last year as well, where the Chiefs scored a narrow 27-24 victory. Overall, the Bills have a better record against the Chiefs with a 30-25-1 record. However, the Chiefs have dominated the playoffs with a 4-2 record.
