Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs lost the first game of the 2024 season in Week 11 when Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills designed an offensive masterpiece to beat them. Although an undefeated season is out of the question for the back-to-back champions, a historic three-peat is still attainable.

There was a great opportunity to bounce back, as they traveled to Charlotte to play the Carolina Panthers. At halftime, it was clear that the Chiefs had already refocused, with a strong lead away from home. However, it was tight end Noah Gray who played a big role with two touchdowns, instead of Kelce.

It turned out to be a scary game for the Chiefs. The Carolina Panthers, with a 3-7 record, made the game much more difficult than expected. Kansas City needed Patrick Mahomes to play much more aggressively, but the quarterback was there when they needed it.

Kelce did not have stellar numbers in Sunday's contest, but he was solid, catching 75% of his targets and finishing with 62 receiving yards. However, he broke an important mark, becoming the 3rd tight end with the most receiving yards of all time during his NFL career:

However, one of the drops he had during the game was totally uncharacteristic of his quality. Mahomes threw him a pass in the middle of the field, and the ball hit his hands. However, he was unable to make the reception, and his frustration was evident after the dropped pass.

The Chiefs had to dig deep. The Panthers scored a touchdown and a two-point conversion late in the fourth quarter to make the score 27-27. However, Mahomes worked his magic one more time, with a strong drive, including a 31-yard scramble, to put Kansas City in field goal range.

From there, Harrison Butker ended the game with a game-winning field goal.
