Trey Lance is a quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys of the NFL as of 2024. Coming out of college, he was an exceptional recruit as playing for North Dakota State University. COVID-19 derailed his next season at the collegiate level, and he opted out to prepare for the 2021 NFL Draft. In his rookie season with the 49ers, Lance's primary role was serving as a backup to Jimmy Garoppolo. While he saw a few snaps here and there, most of his season was spent on the bench. In his 2022 campaign, he was named the starter but only appeared in two games before suffering a season-ending ankle injury. As a result, he spent the entirety of the Season on the sidelines watching the unprecedented rise of Mr. Irrelevant, Brock Purdy. Purdy's rise saw Lance getting traded to the Cowboys in 2023.
