Tennessee-born football guard Henry Louis "Trey" Smith III was drafted in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Smith became a regular in his rookie year as he started in all of the regular and playoff games in his rookie year. He was also named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team in 2021. Smith is also a two-time Super Bowl winner with the Kansas City Chiefs. He will enter his fourth season with the Chiefs in 2024. Growing up in Humboldt, he attended the University School of Jackson. Smith was ranked as the no. 1 prospect by ESPN as he earned the All-State offensive lineman honor thrice. The five-star recruit is also a two-time Tennessee Mr. Football and winner of the Bobby Dodd Award in 2016.
Smith chose to commit to his home state and play for the Vols over the several scholarships he was offered. He was a regular straight from his freshman season and was also named to the Freshman All-SEC by coaches in 2017. Smith had a breakout senior year as he finished his college career making 41 starts in 42 games he appeared in. He was invited to the Senior Bowl and honored with the Tennessee Torchbearer Award before registering for the draft in 2021.
