Miami Dolphins Quarterback Tuanigamanuolepola Donny Tagovailoa, popularly known as Tua Tagovailoa was born in ‘Ewa Beach, Hawaii on March 2, 1998. He was the fifth overall pick in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Tagovailoa started nine games in his rookie season having a 6-3 record and throwing for 1,814 yards. He had a breakout year in 2022, under new head coach Mike McDaniel as he went on to pass for more than 3,500 yards along with 25 touchdowns to just 8 interceptions. However, 2023 was the season where everything came together for the Hawaii native as he put up career-high numbers across the board by completing 69.3% of his passes while leading the league with 4,264 yards. The Dolphins finished the season with an 11-6 record and reached the postseason for the second consecutive time in the Tua-McDaniel era. Tua has played in only six games in the first 11 weeks of the 2024 NFL season as he missed multiple games due to a concussion he suffered against Buffalo Bills.

Tagovailoa grew up in Honolulu attending the St. Louis School. He participated in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl and was the MVP at Nike’s “The Opening” in 2016, as per the University of Alabama. Tagovailoa committed to the University of Alabama playing for the Crimson Tide in 2017. He went on to win the Polynesian Footballer of the Year twice (2018, 2019). His 2018 season was a breakout year as he won several honors including the Maxwell Award, Walter Camp Award, and CFP National Championship Game Offensive MVP as well.
