Tutu Atwell has been a Los Angeles Ram since 2021, when he contributed to their Super Bowl LVI victory as a rookie. Over the next two seasons, he became a starter, mainly at the slot given his size or lack thereof (5'9", 165 lbs.).
But in 2024, he has been mainly relegated to the bench in favor of DeMarcus Robinson, who joined Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua on the field. Yet Atwell has arguably overperformed, having seventeen more yards than his peer (141 vs. 124) on six fewer catches (nine vs fifteen).
Does this make him a good waiver wire addition in Week 4. vs the Chicago Bears?

Should you add Rams WR Tutu Atwell in Week 4 Waiver Wire?
On paper, the Bears should have a strong defense. They have four Pro Bowlers on their roster: defensive end Montez Sweat, linebacker Terrell Edmends, and defensive backs Jaylon Johnson and Kevin Byard.
All three of them are good against either preventing passes before they happen or deflecting passes when they do happen. This means that Matthew Stafford would rather hand off to Kyren Williams repeatedly, limiting Tutu Atwell's chances of making a significant output.
Thus, he is someone who should be kept out of the waiver wire.
Tutu Atwell's 2024 fantasy outlook
Early on in the season, it became clear that the Rams' primary trio would be Cooper Kupp, Puka Nacua, and DeMarcus Robinson. But after injuries to the first two, they have had to pivot. Atwell had his best performance last time out, when he was the team's leading receiver in their 27-24 comeback win against the San Francisco 49ers.
When those two return, however, it will be a battle between him and DeMarcus Robinson over who gets to be on the field as the WR3/slot man. His only way of staying in favor with the staff is to continue overperforming.
Is Tutu Atwell a good waiver wire pickup in Week 3?
The Bears' defense has been set up to limit the passing game as much as possible. It involves either attacking Matthew Stafford before he can aim the ball, or when he does manage to aim and throw it, disrupting the receiver enough that he fails to catch the ball.
In the latter scenario, one of the potential targets is Tutu Atwell, who, as the hypothetical slot receiver, can draw attention away from the corners. But if Matt Eberflus decides to deploy a nickelback (most likely Jonathan Owens), then he may not be assured of consistent targeting. This makes him someone to avoid when creating a fantasy team.
