Tyler Allgeier's Week 10 fantasy outlook

NFL Combine
Tyler Allgeier speaks to reporters

Running back Tyler Allgeier of the Atlanta Falcons recently popped off. The rookie has scored at least 11 fantasy points in each contest over the last three games.

Despite Cordarrelle Patterson's Week 9 return from a knee issue, Allgeier still recorded a career-high 99 rushing yards and 12.8 fantasy points.

Allgeier has only failed to record double-digit rushing attempts in one of the eight games he has played this campaign. However, with Patterson back in contention, his efforts might be reduced moving forward. For Week 10's game against the Carolina Panthers, Allgeier will continue to be a touchdown-dependent RB3/RB4.

Tyler Allgeier's value as a fantasy RB

In Atlanta's Week 9 defeat to the Los Angeles Chargers, Tyler Allgeier carried 10 times for 99 yards and caught his only target for 24 yards.

Allgeier got the game going with a 44-yard rush on the third play, which helped the Falcons score a touchdown on their first possession. He had the most rushing yards in the squad and was extremely productive, averaging 9.9 yards per carry.

The Carolina Panthers, however, have given up 42.9 fantasy points and 167 rushing yards to running backs over the previous two games. Atlanta's starting running back is Patterson, but the matchup gives Tyler Allgeier a viable flex option.

Even if Patterson might get a little more action, Allgeier should still receive sufficient opportunities to merit flex consideration. Thanks to his flexibility, he has the chance to succeed Patterson as the second man up.

Tyler Allgeier might be used as a bench stash with significant upside later in the year.

When the Falcons didn't play against a strong defense, his touch volume was high enough, and the run offense was effective enough for him to provide value.

On Sunday, the Chargers were hammered by Atlanta's run attack, showing what happens when Allgeier is pitted against a poor run defense. Only Justin Herbert's QB1 performance prevented the Chargers from losing to the Falcons.

Truthfully, Atlanta doesn't have many imposing opponents left on their schedule. After their Thursday Night game against the Panthers, they have matchups against the Chicago Bears, Pittsburgh Steelers, New Orleans Saints, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They will also play the Baltimore Ravens in Week 16.
