Tyler Lockett injury update: Will the Seahawks WR return for Week 16 vs Kansas City Chiefs?

Tyler Lockett - Carolina Panthers v Seattle Seahawks

Tyler Lockett broke a bone in his index finger during the Seattle Seahawks' Thursday night loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Before Lockett went down with the injury, he was Geno Smith's favorite offensive target and the Seahawks' number-one receiver.

Seattle's playoff hopes are looking slightly less promising, with the Kansas State University alum getting hurt and also as a result of the defeat. The injury sustained by Lockett was unfortunate, but isn't major. The Seahawks' front office is hinting at a Week 17 return for him.

This does, however, mean that Tyler Lockett is unlikely to suit up for the Week 16 clash with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Tyler Lockett's fantasy outlook

Tyler Lockett is one of the NFL's most effective yet underappreciated wide receivers, and his fantasy numbers prove just as much. Alongside an illustrious group of players, Lockett has had at least eight touchdowns in the past five seasons. He is also a regular in the top twenty-point scorers at the wide receiver position.

Lockett caught seven passes for 68 yards in the game against San Francisco. Lockett said he believes he can make it back in two weeks, so he will at least miss Week 16. In his absence, Marquise Goodwin should fill in, and D.K. Metcalf could take on a few more targets.

Potential wide receiver streamers for Week 16

With the season in its final weeks, replacements can be hard to find. However, if need be, here are a few potential short-term replacements for Lockett for Week 16:

  • Treylon Burks, Tennessee Titans
  • Donovan Peoples-Jones, Cleveland Browns
  • Jameson Williams, Detroit Lions
  • Elijah Moore, New York Jets
  • Jahan Dotson, Washington Commanders

How is Tyler Lockett performing this season?

Lockett is the main man at slot receiver for the Seattle Seahawks, and he has made the transition from Russell Wilson to Geno Smith. He has been as impressive as ever, catching passes, running routes, and opening the game for other offensive weapons.

Lockett has put up a stat line of 78 receptions, 964 receiving yards, and eight touchdowns this season.
