Florida-born wide receiver Tyquan Thornton was drafted by the New England Patriots in the second round (50th pick) of the 2022 NFL Draft. After playing 13 games in his rookie year, he averaged 11.2 yards per carry in his rookie year for 22 receptions. Thornton went through an injury in his second year and was placed on the injured reserve for a couple of months. He attended Booker T. Washington Senior High School in Miami and was rated as a four-star prospect by 247Sports. He committed to Baylor University playing his college football for the Bears in 2018.

Thornton played in 13 games in his freshman year having 20 receptions for 354 yards and scoring three touchdowns. His career-high numbers came in as a senior starting all 14 games. Thornton had 62 receptions for 948 yards and scored 10 touchdowns in 2021. He finished his college career with 143 receptions and 2,242 yards. He ranked 10th overall on BU's career receiving yards list and also tied for 8th place on Baylor's all-time touchdown list with 19 career touchdowns.
