Tyreek Hill has established himself as one of the league's finest and most explosive pass catchers over the years, but the wide receiver has had difficulties staying out of trouble throughout his football career for a variety of reasons.
Most recently, Hill was pulled over for speeding and recklessness while driving on Sunday morning before the Miami Dolphins' Week 1 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was subsequently detained.
It was then reported that following the de-escalation of the incident, Hill was cited and released. While more investigations are being carried out, one of the police officers engaged in the event was placed on administrative leave. With that, Hill took the chance to declare that he is not guilty, saying, "That should tell you everything you need to know.”
Tyreek Hill has been embroiled in controversy outside of the NFL on multiple occasions and this was just the latest one. We will discuss the various issues that Hill has encountered thus far in his collegiate and professional football career below.

Tyreek Hill's timeline of legal troubles
Tyreek Hill has garnered media attention for his off-field troubles while with the Miami Dolphins, as well as accusations of domestic violence during his college years and child abuse during his tenure with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Tyreek Hill's domestic abuse charge
Tyreek Hill was charged with probable cause for domestic abuse by strangling in December 2014, while he was still a Division I football player at Oklahoma State. He had allegedly assaulted his girlfriend at the time.
Hill's girlfriend at the time, Crystal Espinal, claimed that during their argument at his house, things got physical. She said to the authorities that Hill, who was only 20 years old at the time, choked her after striking her in the stomach and face.
She was allowed to leave the hospital after receiving care. She further disclosed to the authorities that she was eight weeks along in her pregnancy when the incident occurred and that the child was Hill's.
After being detained for some time, Hill faced charges of felony domestic abuse and battery by strangulation. As a result, Oklahoma State announced that the wideout would no longer be participating in its football and track programs.
After entering a guilty plea, Hill was only sentenced to three years on probation and more than $1,000 in penalties and court costs because of a plea deal he reached with the district attorney's office.
The felony conviction against Hill was dropped in August 2018 after he fulfilled his probationary requirements, and the charge was removed from his record.
Tyreek Hill's child abuse investigation
Police were sent to Tyreek Hill's home in March 2019 while he was still a member of the Chiefs in order to look into a claim of possible child abuse or negligence involving his three-year-old son with Crystal Espinal. Hill's name was mentioned directly in the report that said the boy had broken his arm.
Hill and Espinal were briefly stripped of their son's custody, but there was insufficient proof to identify the offender. But things got worse for the wide receiver when the Chiefs suspended him indefinitely after discovering a leaked recording between him and Espinal.
Eventually, many were surprised when the NFL decided not to suspend Hill and allowed him to resume regular duty once prosecutors deemed his charges to be inactive.
Tyreek Hill accused of breaking Instagram model's leg in February 2024
Tyreek Hill became embroiled in yet another incident in February after Instagram model Sophie Hall claimed he broke her leg during a football workout at his residence.
"Defendant Hill invited Ms. Hall to participate in offensive drills with him," stated the complaint that Hall submitted. “Defendant Hill then advised her to ‘practice that position as well, since her 10-year-old son played offensive lineman.’ Then, with deliberate force, Hill shoved Ms. Hall, severely fracturing her leg.”
The workouts were described as playful in the lawsuit, but Hall maintained Hill felt humiliated when she occasionally knocked him back.
The lawsuit claimed that on a subsequent rep, Hill charged into Hall with considerable force and violence, seriously injuring her. The complaint stated that Hall broke her right leg, necessitating surgery and the placement of metal gear.
In response to the lawsuit, Hill's attorney, Julius Collins, said Hill was completely helpful and had done nothing wrong, adding that Hall's injuries were already being handled by an ongoing insurance claim.
