Walt Anderson was born on Sep 29, 1952, in DeFuniak Springs, Florida, As of now he is 70 years old. He played college football at Sam Houston State University and graduated from the college in 1974.

His officiating career in the NFL began in 1996 and spent his first seven seasons as a line judge. In 2001 he officiated the Super Bowl XXXV as a line judge which was held in Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. His career highlight came when he was chosen to be a referee of Super Bowl XLV in 2011 which was held in Cowboys Stadium at Arington, Texas between the Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was the referee in the 2015 AFC Championship game and he refereed the final NFL game in San Diego between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers. In 2019 Anderson refereed his final game between the Minnesota Vikings and the San Francisco 49ers in the 2019 NFC Playoff Divisional game which was held at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

He retired from dentistry in 2003 when he was promoted to referee in the NFL.
